#MyCalvins

“I thrive in #MyCalvins” –Destini Monet

Hey Guys & Dolls,
Welcome to the last post of May. I have had so much fun this month and as some of you may have figured out, I tried to make up for April by scheduling the posts fewer days apart, which led to more posts this month. I really wanted to finish the month on a high and as a result, I have picked two things that is synonymous with the 90s Era, Calvin Klein and Denim Dungarees.
I especially love the dungarees because it is the perfect way to hide all the weight my body hasn't decided to distribute properly yet LOL!!

Intimates: Calvin Klein Underwear
Denim Dungarees: River Island
Trainers: NIKE

IVY PARK X Destini Monet

Hey Guys & Dolls,
I have brought you another post that pays homage to one of my favourite eras. There’s so many great things about 90s fashion that it can seem overwhelming at times but the best thing about that fact is that you can pick one thing to showcase or you can wear them all at once. I have gone for two; one of which is the high-waisted denim and the other is the famous bodysuit as seen on Beyonce Knowles Carter from the IVY PARK athleisure range.
Initially, I wasn’t going to buy anything from the range because I don’t work out but the more I saw Beyonce in that bodysuit, the more I knew I was going to buy it regardless of whether I worked out or not. Furthermore, an in-depth perusal of the range showed me that the pieces were so versatile, they could be worn in and out of the gym, go figure.

Snapback Hat: ASOS

Do you own anything from the Ivy Park range? How have you styled your items? Leave me a comment below. I would love to hear from all of y’all. I am Destini Monet and you have been reading ‘The Black Mannequin’.

Cosmic Rose

Hey Guys & Dolls,
Welcome back to my blog. I have been having so much fun publishing these posts and I hope y’all have been enjoying reading them.
We are coming to the end of my S/S 16 catwalk interpretation and the last few posts you will be seeing from me will be paying homage to my favourite trend of all, The 90s.
If you haven’t guessed by now, I am a 90s baby. I love everything about the 90s; the clothes, the music, the TV shows, the cartoons, the movies. The list is endless.
Speaking of clothes, if there is anything the 90s is synonymous with, it is the bomber jacket.
The bomber is so popular right now, it can be found in nearly all designer and high street collection. It comes in an array of colors and style that include but not limited to lightweight, heavyweight, quilted, longline, embellished/varsity, plain, pastel, metallic and different materials to suit all different seasons.

Gingham

“I think it’s because it was an emotional story, and emotions come through much stronger in black and white. Colour is distracting in a way, it pleases the eye but it doesn’t necessarily reach the heart”. –Kim Hunter

Hey Guys & Dolls,
In a world where everything seems extremely crazy, it is sometimes important to keep things a little on the simple side. Sometimes, I need a little black and white cause the gray areas can get too confusing and what better way than to amalgamate two spring trends into this post, which in theory sounds complex but in actuality, remains extremely simple.
I really wanted to update the classic monochrome trend by experimenting with gingham especially after seeing it all over Victoria Beckham’s S/S 16 Collection.
