Kimberly

Hey Guys & Dolls,
It is starting to get a little colder so I thought it would be the perfect time to throw this look into the mix.
From time to time, I search outside of my usual parameters and style icons for inspiration when it comes to outfit building and that is exactly what I did on this occasion.
Over the last bank holiday, I was invited out to a party to which I wore this exact ensemble sans some very minor details. The fit got so much reviews on Snapchat that I knew it would be a sin for me not to blog it for y’all.
I was browsing the Internet as usual, when I came across this picture of Kim Kardashian-West and instantly fell in love. I knew that I would definitely be recreating the look someday and this day party seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so.
Whilst I don’t consider Kim Kardashian-West as one of my Style icons, I do love how she is able to take risks unapologetically when it comes to fashion. She impractically wears what she wants whether it works for her or not and somehow heavily influences the masses to emulate her.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is what I call power and is what I most admire about Kim Kardashian-West.

Margeaux

Hey Guys & Dolls,
Welcome back to my blog.
Do you ever get bored of your look sometimes?
Despite having an extensive closet, I still struggle with the direction in which I want to take a look sometimes.
Sometimes it works out; other times I end up looking like a mole rat!
However, I am going to let you in on a secret. Whenever I find myself in this moment of madness, I usually create a character and bring her to life.
My character will get named, assigned a gender, a date of birth and a residing location.
Following that, I tend to play around with his/her temperament a little by assigning likes and dislikes, interests and hobbies.
These factors usually inspire what the characters personal style will be and in that moment, an outfit idea usually drops in my lap, which brings me to today’s post. I would like to shout out my baby brother for brainstorming this one with me. I really appreciate some of your outrageous ideas Poochie; they made for a great outfit.

NEW IN VIII

Hey Guys & Dolls,
Welcome back to my blog. If it’s your first time here, it’s LIT and if you have been rocking with me since the very beginning, y’all are the real MVP.
I am going to be featuring some new beauty items that been added to my drawer in the last few months. If you follow me on Snapchat, you will have seen some of these already. I tend to debut things on there first so make sure you’re following me (@BLACKMNQN).

Firstly, I wanted to show you my blush leather makeup bag, which I picked up because of the colour. I bought it because I couldn’t stop staring at it in-store and thought it would make a great clutch if I needed it to be. However, I use it to carry toiletries/store brushes, as I really don’t want it to get dirty.

Speaking of brushes, a few months ago, my MAC 187 brush which I have had for about 6 years started disintegrating and whilst I have so many brushes that could take its place, I still headed out in search for new brushes. I went for The Makeover Brush Set from the ‘Look Good, Feel Better’ range because a percentage of sales go towards helping cancer patients/survivors and all the brushes are allergy and cruelty free which is an added bonus for me.

And because I am obsessed with new brushes, I finally completed my BH Cosmetics collection. If you have been following my NEW IN posts, you would have seen me amass this collection over the course of a year. I love how beautiful and soft these brushes are and as a result, I have decided to make them my travel brushes which means they’ll permanently reside in my suitcases and I won’t have to carry mismatch brushes on vacation, LOL!

Another thing I am equally obsessed with are Lipsticks. In fact, is it really a new in post without lipstick purchases? That would explain why I milly rocked all the way to MAC and picked up a few new shades.
The first lipstick I added to my growing collection is TAUPE, which is described as a muted reddish-taupe brown. This shade has proven to be perfect for when I wear my no-makeup makeup looks. In addition, I finally acquired SIN, which is described as deep dark blue red. I can’t wait to wear this in my autumn looks.
Finally, I bought the shadescents version of the cult favourite shade, RUBY WOO, which is described as a very matte vivid blue red because I have nearly finished my current bullet. I went for the shadescents version because the packaging is shade-matched to the lipstick.

Furthermore, I picked up the YSL Black Opium perfume which I have wanted for a very long time whilst I was travelling to Turkey. I kept debating between the Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and the Saint Laurent Black Opium and when I smelt them again, I decided that I actually didn’t like the Coco Mademoiselle at all. Does age/time affect your pheromones? Because I was in love with this perfume a few years back!

Another item I picked up in Duty Free was the MAC eyebrow pencil in the colour STUD. I had previously tried out the MAC Brow Sculpt in STUD as illustrated in the NEW IN VI post and whilst the Brow Sculpt is packaged better, I prefer the Eyebrow pencil as it just performs better.

Speaking of Turkey, I packed a mini sample of my sister’s primer by 'The Ordinary' alongside my BECCA everlasting poreless priming perfector as featured in my NEW IN IV post as I had heard great things about it. I kid you guys not; my makeup on the days I wore it withstood the 40 degrees weather. I didn’t get oily/shiny and my makeup didn’t slip and slide all over the place. I was super impressed and told my friend Ebi Pamere that I was going to pick up the primer when we got back to London but when I got home, my sister had bought me one so I didn’t have to.

Something I am also excited to try out is the new Rock Out Mascara by EYEKO. I absolutely love my Too Faced ‘Better than Sex’ Mascara and just wanted to try out something different before I permanently settle on a favourite.

In my previous NEW IN VII post, I showed you my STILA Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid eye shadow that I had purchased but didn’t swatch because I knew I wasn’t happy with the shade. In the end, I exchanged it for ‘Rose Gold Retro’ and picked up another shade called ‘Kitten Karma’.

Finally, I picked up the new Laura Mercier translucent powder in ‘Medium Deep’ and a new Charlotte Tilbury sharpener from John Lewis as I was gifted with e-vouchers. The powder has received critical acclaim amongst Women of Colour on YouTube and I wanted to try it out to see if it performed better than my SACHA ‘Buttercup’ powder. I will be sure to let you know how that goes in a separate post.

I haven’t blogged in months so you know there are more NEW IN posts on the way. I tried to break it up to keep it from being text and picture heavy so I guess I will catch up with y’all in my next post.

Love Always,
Destini Monet
