Hey Guys &
Dolls,
Welcome back to my
blog. As illustrated by the title, I am going to be showing you some of the
things I added to ‘The Black Mannequin’ closet over the last couple months.
Although the post is quite ‘beauty’ heavy, I purposely didn’t cover the
clothing side of it as I will be showing these in my style posts over the
coming weeks.
The first thing I
will be showing y’all are my purchases from the MAC Nutcracker Holiday
Collection (which is now unfortunately sold out). I initially purchased the
lipsticks (Flamboyish and Leap of delight) as I was enticed by the unusual
shades but a second perusal of the collection saw me buying the face compact,
which consisted of the famous and back by popular demand ‘Whisper of Gilt’
highlighter.
Deep down in my
heart, I know I have way too many MAC highlighters (maybe I’ll do a post on my
collection) and didn’t really need this but it is a collectors’ item and just
had to exist in my beauty drawer.
In addition to
these, I picked up some new lip liners and re-upped on some old favorites in
case I run out.
As you can see from
the pictures, the 3 pictured lip liners are PINK and that’s because as a lip
liner addict, I find it difficult to wear pink lipsticks without a lip liner.

Talking Points, Process Magenta)

Chestnut, Nightmoth
In addition, I also
re-upped on the Lip conditioning hydrant. This product here is the reason why
Ruby Woo is always my drink of choice when it comes to lipsticks. It makes my
lips so soft and removes the tugging that comes with application of some Matte
Lipsticks.
Moreover, I picked
up an eyeshadow in the color ‘deep damson’ as I have been obsessed with
creating an all burgundy look inspired by one of my style icons. Stay on the
look out for that post.
Also, I picked up a
new brow product that I didn’t even know MAC had on the market. Nevertheless, I
was intrigued by the fact that it can be retracted up and down, came with its own spoole and the shape of the
applicator was angled in comparison to the other design I am familiar with. I
cannot wait to try it out and see which I prefer.
Revolution, a
Superdrug brand is known for creating drugstore dupes for many of the higher
end makeup brands so when I saw that they had a makeup finishing spray that had
received rave reviews, I gave it a try.
Unfortunately, I
wasn’t thrilled about the product as it didn’t work as well as I had expected
but after discovering I was using the wrong one for my skin type (I am
oily-combination), My friend Rachel got me the right one and I cannot
complain. This makes my makeup last all day, all night.. whatever your poison
is and for the price, you really cannot go wrong.
I also picked up the
Pür Glitz & Glam Palette. I didn’t even know Pür had created this palette
until I saw it on sale in my store. I swatched the testers and to my surprise,
I actually really liked it. This set has two palettes, one for day time and one
for night time which would be perfect for travelling and when I tell y’all I am all the way here for the night time
palette.
Ever since I figured
out what my skin type was, I have been on the hunt for the perfect foundations.
At the moment, I have three in my arsenal, which I hope to share with y’all in
a different post. One of the three is pictured above and it is the Giorgio
Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. It is quite pricey but Foundation is the one
thing I believe every beauty fanatic should invest on. If your foundation is
popping, your whole makeup is gonna be BOMB!
The key to having
BOMB makeup application is your tools and y’all have been rocking with me long
enough to know I am obsessed with brushes. I use the same 15 brushes till they
break and even then I tape them up but I have so many brushes and that didn’t
stop me from collecting the Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection. Again, for
makeup brushes, they are quite expensive but in my defence, I collected them
over the course of two years.
The above picture
exemplifies two of my favourite scents. Dolce & Gabbana the one is one of
my favourite all time scents because like me, it is dominating and demands
attention. I like a scent that alerts people to my presence and that is exactly
what the Robert Cavalli perfume does. The Oud Al Qasr is part of a
three-perfume Oud collection and if I am going by what this one does, I
probably will collect them all.
This scent immediately
always takes me back to Dubai and Abu Dhabi when I wear it and that Leather
tone makes me feel like I could rule the world.
If you read my
‘Varsity’ post, you will have seen this post but the boots I had on in varsity
were so huge, I had to send them back and size down. The only thing about
sizing down is that I had to break them in and if you watch me on Snapchat, you
will see that it has been a journey. Now I know why they say, Beauty is Pain.
Finally, I thought I
would add some tech bits in here.
Y’all, I finally had
to let go of my iPhone 5S or should I say, it let me go.
My longest
relationship ended so abruptly that I literally had to get a new phone and so I
decided to get the iPhone 7 in Matt Black. The iPhone 7 is BOMB; I can’t
believe I waited so long to get a new phone.
And whilst I love
it, I really can’t believe they took away the Jack connector, which means I can’t
listen to music and charge my phone at the same time. This was inconvenient for
like a day then I remembered that I had some Wireless Beats that I hadn’t opened
from a few months back. What perfect time than now!!!
Lastly, I headed off
to Xander and Bow for my personalised phone case cause who doesn’t like their
name on everything.
Let me know if you
loved the new additions to the Closet.
I am Destini Monet
and you have been reading ‘The Black Mannequin’.
