Hey Guys & Dolls,
Today, I am going to delve a little into the
world of Sports Luxe; a trend that infiltrated fashion back in 2014 and never
left.
From what I know, Sports Luxe was never
really a thing and the closest we got fashion wise was overpriced, over
embellished sweatpants with coordinating hoodies endorsed by one celebrity or
the other.
Fast-forward approximately a decade later and
the fashion industry is introduced to Alexander Wang and the art of Athleisure.
Whilst I wouldn’t call myself an athlete or
someone who works out for that matter (although I am not averse to it),
athleisure both provides technical performance characteristics for those who
actually need it and a fashion element for those that just want to look like
they do.
So what is actually Athleisure? Well, it is a
blanket term for activewear that is not meant to be sweat in. It sounds
ridiculous but it has paved the way for brands like IVY PARK, which has grown
to be a cult favourite amongst many for the reasons stated above.
I own a lot of athleisure pieces of which I cannot
vouch for their technical purposes because I have never worn them for that
purpose and rightly so, because when you look this good, why waste it on the
gym?
